Monday- Day 2
In LALS class: individual goal work, binder work and reading strategies, money math (place value, decimal placement, value in the change of decimal placement, physical activity block

Tuesday- Day 1-
LALS class; reading with meaning (read alouds, retells and comprehension practice), grammar (predicates and comprehension), social work-rules for friendships, VSB shredding group to the board, binder work for others, logical thinking and dice money game

Wednesday- Day 2 WEAR YOUR PINK
LALS class; Excercise and fitness awareness and binder checks, Assembly about Auschwitz Survivor, Money (matching change and decimal placement value, physical activity

Thursday- Day 1- PAJAMA DAY & BEST BUDDIES- hot chocolate in foyer with best buddies at break
LALS class; reading for meaning, journals, social -rules for friendships continued, VSB shredding group to board, binder work for the rest, logical thinking and counting money practice

Friday- Day 2
LALS class;Exercise and fitness Awareness packets continued, reading strategies, Carerr Prep- work site interest survey, physical actvity

Monday- Day 2-
LALS class; individual goal/skills block, resume and work binder updates, money math dice game (adding coins), budget planning, course selection guidance for next year

Tuesday- Day 1-
LALS class; reading for comprehension, class rules review, money math, group to VSB shredding, binder work for others, budgeting discussion and skills review

Wednesday- day 2
LALS class; elapsed time worksheets, think-a-minute time page, individual goal/skills block, writing and editing page, journals, physical activity block (walk outdoors and community map review)

Thursday- Pro- D Day- NO SCHOOL

Friday- day 1-
LALS class; skills block, math (elapsed time word problems, money math pages and individual math challenge question),
LUNCH- We will be introduced to our Best Buddies and have ice breaker activities to get to know each other. Buddies will be assigned at a later date, cooking class for Feb. birthdays treat, social group for Feb. birthdays celebration

Looking Ahead- Feb. 23-Feb. 27 - Finally a regular week :)) We will be revisiting budgeting skills, binder organization, classroom rule reminders/expectations and paying bills. We will also be doing some social activities pertaining to peer pressure in today's world and bullying.

My apologies for late post for the week. It has been a re-organizing kind of week.

Monday- Family Day

Tuesday- Day 2, Individual goal prep, current events app, career prep, Logical thinking, language skills, reading for meaning, pyshical activity block, community and transit planning

Wednesday- Day 1, jounral writing with prompts, responsibility packet, grammar practice, their/there and I/me, individual goal activties

Thursday- Collab Day- dismissed at 1:30- Day 2, Individual goal prep, reading for meaning, binder work, time word problems and money dice game, transit training for class supplies

Friday- Day 1- Grammar, journal prompts, career prep and binder work, student meetings with Mrs. Y. class options for next year, complete video from Wednesday (compare and contrast baseball rules with video) (history lesson chat)

Week of Feb. 2- 6

The blocks are long this week. The schedule is as follows:

Monday- 1.1, Lunch, 1.3
in LALS- social group, binder checks, reading comprehension exercise, number think-a-minute, history of the phone presentation and discussion, Community/Map Lessons and practice, landmark presentation and review (world, city, neighbourhood), physical activity neighbourhood walk and map assembly.

Tuesday- 2.1, Lunch, 2.3
in LALS- Math block- word problems, social group person problems (math), decimal & money word problems, time and money bingo

Wednesday- 1.2, Lunch, 1.4
Physical Activity Block- Fog/Bog hike, creative drawing (fog chalk and rock formation), return to school for the movie, The Fog

Thursday- 2.2, Lunch, 2.4
Recipe selction (breakfast, lunch, or dinner), grocery list development, budget check, grocery shop, cook the meal and share the meal

Friday- regular day 1 blocks

Monday- Pro D day

Tuesday- Day 1- (Tito and Sean at VCC)

Wednesday- Day 2 (Dori and Delenn at work)- Remy Work BC after school

Thursday- Day 1 (Tito and Sean at VCC) (Adam interview for Work experience)

Friday- Day 2 (Dori and Delenn at work)

Academic Focus- reading and math assessments (teacher made level marker exercises), journal prompts and writing activities, community information/maps and logical thinking exercises.

Looking ahead:
Due to exams next week has a double block schedule, which is new to Byng. The schedule is this:
Monday- day 1- 1.1 will be all morning, lunch, then period 1.4 all afternoon
Tuesday- Day 2- 2.1 will be all morning, lunch, then period 2.4 all afternoon
Wednesday- day 1- 1.2 will be all morning, lunch then period 1.3 all afternoon
Thursday- day 2- 2.2 will be all morning, lunch and then period 2.3 will be all afternoon
Friday- regular schedule again

So you will have 2 very long classes each day. Ask Mrs. Y if you have questions!

Work: Each of you will receive EVERY activitiy we do in LALS. It will be placed on your desk whether you are here or not (due to illness, other classes, work experience etc). When you are here and find these papers on your desk- please put them in your work binders. You will be working out of these binders in down time.

Jan. 19- Jan. 23

Week of Trips

Monday- Ice skating- dress apprpriately, we will bus to hillcrest, ice skate, eat, bus back

Tuesday- Transit to Allison's class- we miss them! packed lunch is needed.

Wednesday- Tubing- we will travel by car to the mtn. We will tube and then stop at Park Royal for lunch on the way back to school.

Thursday- Lansdowne- We will transit there, have a price check scavenger hunt, eat there, review mall maps and transit back

Friday- Bowling- travel by car to Revs, bowl 2 games, eat pizza from there for lunch, learn how to keep score, travel back to school for 2pm.

**Reminder Monday the 26th is Pro D day- no school.**

January 2015

Welcome back everyone!
I am glad to be back in high school with you all :)

I am still adjusting to the schedules and such, so for now I will do a January overall post and we will have weekly ones thereafter.

Week of Jan. 12- Jan. 16
13th- collab day- dismiss at 1:30

Week of Jan. 19-Jan. 23- the school has scheduled exams. LALS will take this week to practice group transit skills, explore the community and collaborate with other classes.
More trip info to come via email.
